Assalamu alaikum,

Sunni Sister asks “How did you come to Islam?” This is my story.

Assalamu alaikum,

As I was looking for pics online of human embryos (because I think it’s fascinating), I accidentally clicked on a link to some right to life organization (that I refuse to link to; I bet you can find it if you have the inclination) that had an entire page devoted to the evils/terrorism/barbarism of Islam and Muslims. Assalamu ‘alaikum,
Recently I had an interesting conversation with a professor here. He was actually talking to my Somali co-worker about some situation (I came in in the middle of the conversation) in which there were rebels and people being killed. His assertion was that if a group of people are being persecuted and killed, they should just leave, go somewhere else. Ah, so simple. Especially if you are a white American male with a Ph.D. and lots of cash. That’s what he would do. He’d move to Argentina if he were forced to leave the U.S. Continue Reading »

Anti-Da’wah

Assalamu ‘alaikum,
If a non-Muslim asks you what the Qur’an says about non-Muslims, or asks if non-Muslims are going to Hell, what do you say?

Why, you tell them that we don’t know about individual people but that the Qur’an indeed does say that non-Muslims are going to Hell. (Roll eyes here.) Continue Reading »

Assalamu ‘alaikum,
I LOVE anything to do with nutrition, natural healing, holistic health and preventitive medicine. I have the book Healing with the Medicine of the Prophet [At-Tibb An-Nabi] (sallallahu ‘alayhi wassalam) by Imam Ibn Qayyim Al-Jauziyah (written over 650 years ago), and love books like SuperfoodsRx. I’ll do anything to avoid taking medicine. (Although I really don’t believe in homeopathy. Hey, I’m a scientist!) So imagine my delight when I heard MeccaOne’s podcast interview with Dr. Karim Abdullah. Then I remembered a link from SunniSister about Hakim Archuletta, and from there I went to his website, and I found out there’s a Yahoo! Group devoted to Islamic Natural Healing! This is right up my alley! I’m tickled pink! The messages are available to the public. Check it out!

Assalamu ‘alaikum,

So today DH had the TV on (as usual). I don’t watch it because I’m afraid of ulcers. He usually has it on while he’s working, usually to CNN or Headline News or if he really wants to get riled up, Faux News. Well, today it was on Headline News and there was this guy, with an audience, asking them if they thought that the military had been portrayed unfairly by the media in the Haditha massacre. Most of the audience raised their hands.

Witnessed!

Assalamu ‘alaikum,

I’ve been meaning to post on this for a while… Last Monday I was waiting in my car on campus for my student to run an errand, and it was a nice day, so my window was down and I was enjoying the breeze. I was making dhikr, alhamdullillah, minding my own business. Continue Reading »

Assalamu ‘alaikum,
While on a search for beauty, I came across this lovely post (about halfway down, Tuesday, September 13, 2005: “In response to Brother’s post”) at “Thoughts & Readings” that captures much of what I would like to capture in my book insha’Allah. It’s a beautiful post. Continue Reading »
