Assalamu alaikum,
SubhanAllah. Today, I didn’t have any food cooked for myself to eat except some soup, and I came home really hungry. Remember how I was whining about people giving me food? So ungrateful!! I hope Allah forgives me insha’Allah *sigh*. Anyway, 2 (TWO!!) sisters spontaneously called me up, requesting to bring me food they had generously made for me today after work. (I’m talking, salad, rice, chicken, mahshi, makshi, dessert…) Masha’Allah, alhamdullillah! (and it wasn’t an overly generous amount, so insha’Allah I’ll be able to finish it off and not have to throw any away!)
And, just yesterday I was thinking to myself that I needed a blue shyla to go with my one blue shirt that I own (the only color blue that actually looks good on me). Now, I have nowhere to go hijab shopping and don’t have a clue as to the next time I’d be able to go or where. Guess what fell into my lap today? Out of absolutely nowhere.
I guess sometimes we need a little nudge to let us know that He really, truly is paying attention, even to our tiniest whispers to ourselves, that seem meaningless to us at the time. And maybe, it is just to let us know He’s there, so we can turn to Him in repentance and hope. And to remind us that He is the one who Provides, and no one else. He Alone. La ilaha illa Allah!
Wassalam,
Callista
Mash’Allah sister! Alhamdullilah!
Well… I guess I was wrong. It’s Saturday and there is still plenty of food. I will have to throw some of it away after all. This makes me sad. I have been eating it every day but I just don’t eat that much. And I don’t think it’s safe to eat it anymore after 5 days in the fridge.
*Sigh* I hope Allah forgives me for this. 😦
Asalamulakum,
I have been blessed with an over aboundace of food from others latley. I have no idea why poeple are giving our little family food but alhumdulliah. What I do is freeze a lot of it. I was given 2 dozen rolls 2 weeks in a row so i stuck them in the freezer. The 20 lbs of tomatos I first of all snuck them into every dish we ate, peeled then frze most of them and ate a lot raw. Rice keeps forever almost and we usually eat rice 5 to 6 times a week. The oat meal is the same. If I had the tools i would can, but I don’t. As far as already prepared meals I just freeze those. There are 3 of us in our family so I freeze it in 3 portion size bundels individually. That way I am ready. My freeze is brimming but if i get more stuff I can always share it with my neighbor. She was a stay at home mom and her husband just went to jail, none of my business, so I bring her over stuff sometimes. She may not need food but it helps keep good realtions and I want to to feel like if she does need something all she has to do is let me know.
